PRESIDENT
Jonathan Denis
Biography
“I have spent my career in service to others in both the public and private sector. I look on each matter as if I were the client and how I’d feel in that situation.”
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan as the son of a Canadian soldier and a teacher, Jonathan graduated with degrees in business (finance/marketing) and law at age 24. Jonathan moved to Calgary after graduation and was called to the Alberta bar in 2001 and quickly became a key member of one of Canada’s top ten national law firms.
Jonathan served two terms as an Alberta MLA and served in five senior cabinet roles, most notably as Alberta’s 23rd Minister of Justice, Attorney General, and Solicitor General and as Government House Leader. Since returning to the private sector, Jonathan founded Guardian Law Group LLP in 2016.
Educated in Canada and in the United States, Jonathan carries a global perspective on many issues. His experience often described as the intersection between law, business, politics, and communications, people trust Jonathan to resolve complex matters and achieve the best results.
A recognized authority in politics and governance, Jonathan is frequently invited as a guest speaker to organizations and charities. Jonathan has received numerous accolades in his career, including being named to the King’s Counsel of Alberta and one of Avenue Magazine’s “Top 40 under 40” (when he was under 40).
Jonathan has a rare practice in campaigns and elections law. He has acted as lead counsel on several judicial recounts and his clients have included sitting Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and city councillors.

FOUNDING PARTNER
Darryl Lucke
Biography
Over the past 17 years, Darryl has been actively involved in the community. He was involved with the Regina Public Library Board for almost 13 years, serving as the Chair for the last 3.5 years. This experience was an exceptional way to learn the nuances of corporate governance. Additionally, over his service with the library, he was a party to many successful negotiations.
In addition, Darryl is a former and founding director of The Boys and Girls Clubs of Regina, which was an important initiative in 2004 in establishing a program to assist inner city youth.
Coaching hockey has also assisted in his development, having coached multiple teams for several years, both as a father of a player and as an independent coach. The experience has assisted him with client communication. Darryl strives to ensure clients understand the work we are doing and feel as though they are a part of the process.
Darryl was called to the Saskatchewan bar in 2001 and to the Alberta bar in 2022. He represents clients throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.

VICE-PRESIDENT
Troy Metz
Biography
Troy and his family are proud to say their roots in the Province of Saskatchewan trace from the first pioneers and land surveyors, with the issuance of an original land grant. Troy’s early career years include being a commissioned officer in the armed forces (Infantry). He taught political science at the University of Regina before venturing to his career of business coaching and consulting. For the last 25 years, Troy has been involved in startup and growth, business process re-engineering, corporate expansions, and government commercialization of entities in varying sizes across Europe, democratic Asia and North America.
Troy has been widely recognized for his contributions in provincial entrepreneurship and politics and has been the recipient of several provincial and national medals. In his leadership, Troy actively participates in politics and passionately enjoys the organizing and training of campaigns. Troy has a depth of educational background, and is widely recognized for his ability to provide leadership and coordination to move projects through from initial concept to execution. His colleagues often refer to him as a conceptualist, as he has a keen ability to find and negotiate opportunities where none seem to exist.
He loves dogs, he is an author, loves golf and nature, and spending time with friends and family.

Cheryl Munson
Biography
Cheryl is a born and raised Calgarian. She began her career in health and wellness, focusing on the best outcomes for each and every individual. While most of her career had been located in Calgary, she has also worked in Australia. Prior to joining Guardian Public Affairs, Cheryl operated a successful small business for many years.
Cheryl is active within provincial and municipal politics and focuses on cultivating personal relationships within these communities. She is currently the president of a local UCP constituency association in Calgary and is actively engaged in municipal, provincial and federal issues.
You can find her out running, riding, and hanging with her two kids and dog in her leisure time.

CONSULTANT
Marguerite Denis
Biography
Born and raised in rural Saskatchewan, Marguerite’s first career was as an educator, working throughout Saskatchewan and in Manitoba. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in politics as a campaign manager, volunteer co-ordinator, and fundraiser.
Marguerite moved to Alberta in 2003 and has continued her service to the community, with a particular affinity for new Canadians.
Marguerite is adept at organization and navigating through political and government processes.
Marguerite is an avid fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and remains active in federal and provincial politics, most recently as the campaign manager for the Calgary-West constituency in the 2023 provincial election.
